Hikmat Baba-Zada

Hikmat will be playing for Oliver Sales contemporary classes 16th and 21st of May.

I have a classical piano upbringing age 6-14, and discovered jazz specially improvisational aspect of it around 17yo and fell for it completely as it unveiled instantly an inner urge for intuitive expression that I was subconsciously longing and looking for,  such as: being in the moment, take risks, stumble and fall, cry, surrender to unknown, fight back, rejoice …to mention few.
So I mainly “play” as a need for self therapy to check in with my self and see what is there that wants and needs to come out. My approach to piano “playing” is more shapes and finger choreography driven rather than pitch relevant choices. To describe it poorly, basically I have an ensemble of 10 dancers with different temperaments that want to dance/move together to make a piece, but often get off track/carried away 🙂 so “I am” there to be a Shepherd during that process.
