Workshop – Armin Hokmi

Workshop med Armin Hokmi.
Armin Hokmi is a choreographer born in Bushehr, Iran and based both in Berlin and Oslo.
His work is known for its hypnotic movement patterns in which repetition, rhythm and
collective energy take centre stage. From simple movements, complex structures emerge, in
which bodies constantly react to one another and create new forms. Hokmi draws inspiration
from history, rituals and encounters between cultures, creating performances that are both
intense and sensory. He is an associate artist at the renowned Montpellier Danse festival for
the years 2024-2026.
Workshop
The workshop will concentrate on the vocabulary of Armin Hokmi’s latest creation Bazm (
Repertoire ), planned to be shown at Dansens Hus in Oslo on November 6-8.
We will practice the physical principles behind the vocabulary of the work through a short
warm up and will spend the rest of the hour working on the material of the piece together.
The language of the piece is characterized by its attention to small impulses and ranges of
movement, intricate combination of articulations and sensitivity to gentle shifts in intensity
and force. It can be of interest for both dancers and choreographers if you are curious about
the way the vocabulary is constructed and danced.
